Higley High School is located in Gilbert, Arizona, and has been a pillar of education in the community. When it came time to upgrade their outdated double-sided sign, school officials wanted a solution that would better engage both the school and the surrounding community. They turned to Summit West Signs, a trusted partner in the K-12 signage market, for help.

The school’s previous display, in place since 2001, was limited to basic text and was unable to display images or videos. It was no longer meeting the school’s needs to communicate important updates and connect with parents, students, staff, and surrounding neighborhoods. “We wanted to do more than just post text—we wanted to engage with the entire community,” said Gustavo Landeros, Director of Maintenance and Construction.

Summit West Signs partnered with Watchfire to design a solution. The team installed a triple-sided, 8mm digital display, chosen for its exceptional image quality and ability to reach drivers coming from three different angles. “We really wanted a sign that could meet the demands of a busy intersection and reflect Higley’s commitment to modern solutions,” said Stephanie Johnson, sales representative at Summit West Signs.

The new display has allowed Higley High School to communicate more effectively, including announcing school events, sharing important community messages, and promoting activities like blood drives and theater performances at an adjoining creative arts center.

The team is also able to make updates quickly to respond to changes to activities, school closures, and more, using Watchfire’s Ignite OPx cloud-based content management software. “We can update the sign from anywhere, which makes it so much easier to stay on top of messaging,” Landeros added.

The sign has already had a positive impact, with many community members reaching out to express their pride in the upgrade. “People love the sign, especially at night when it’s lit up. It’s been a great addition to the school,” Landeros said.

The project was funded primarily through the school’s parking lot fund, a testament to the school’s commitment to investing in its future. By upgrading to a Watchfire display, Higley High School has transformed its communication strategy, making it easier to keep the community informed and connected.
